Beautiful Brunette with Hands to Face

Intelligent Skin Care and Skin Care Product Layering

Give your skin the love and proper care it deserves and it will show up for you in the best way ever.

Layering. Serums can be layered with other skin care products without adverse effects or degrading the efficacy of the ingredients, up to three additional layers. This does not include the toner, if you are using one. Wait for each layer to absorb (dry) completely before applying the next. Properly layering products can help trap active ingredients against your skin, enhancing the benefits of each.

Wash and pat skin dry. Use a gentle cleanser. Never rub or tug your skin.

Every morning and evening, wash your face. Use a gentle cleanser and luke warm or warm water. Finish with a cool water to stimulate circulation then rinse and gently pat dry.

Always employ only a very gentle manipulation of your skin. Rough tugging, rubbing, or abrasive handling with your fingers, hands, towels, tissues or beauty tools can your skin’s delicate mechanics.

Apply Toner. If using a toner, start with your toner.

Apply Serum(s). Incorporate a serum into your day and nighttime facial beautifying routines and stick with it! You will experience greater anti-aging benefits the longer you use a serum. For optimal results, apply a vitamin c serum twice daily. If you choose to apply serum only once daily do so in the morning. It will help protect against future sun damage, but is definitely not a substitute for a quality sunscreen.

If applying multiple serums, apply vitamin C serum, first. Apply a very thin layer of our vitamin c serum to your face, neck and décolleté. Although the exact amount will vary based on the coverage area, just a few concentrated drops are super-efficient. Serums are made of very small molecules, so the skin absorbs them quickly and deeply. Wait until the serum is fully absorbed (completely dry) before applying the next layer.

For Dry Skin: If you are not using a toner, apply serum while face is still slightly wet to lock in moisture. Apply only a thin layer of serum, as directed, to avoid dryness.

(Nighttime) Apply Retinol. If using Retin-A or our Premium Retinol apply it next. A Retinol serum is best applied at night. It will be more effective during cell turnover and can cause sensitivity during the day.

Apply Eye Gel

Apply over and under the eye my patting. Never rub, tug or pull on the delicate skin around the eye.

Apply Moisturizer. This will allow you to lock in and increase the benefits of the serum. Serums should be applied before a moisturizer allowing active ingredients from the serum to penetrate the skin, using the moisturizer to lock them in. The thicker, heavier ingredients in lotions and creams form a barrier on your skin…great for locking moisture in. But, they can also lockout active ingredients. This is why your serum should be applied before your moisturizer! Please note that a Retinol “Moisturizer” can be used day or night. Wait for the moisturizer to completely absorb before applying the next skin care layer.

For Oily Skin: You may wish to use a Hyaluronic hydrating serum as an alternative to lotion or cream moisturizer, as it will provide additional moisture without the oils and other lubricants of a lotion or cream moisturizer, which can make your face appear greasy and potentially clog pores.
Apply Sunscreen. (If not already including in your moisturizer.)

One of the best things you can do for your skin is protect it. Apply a broad spectrum SPF30-50 sunscreen ideally with a zinc component liberally, every day. If you’re going to be outdoors for an extended period, apply every 2 hours. Look for sunscreens with titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Avoid sunscreens with xenoestrogens like oxybenzone. And lastly, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your lips, eyes, neck and ears.
